Family
Healing and peace between the drug addict and his Family is recognised
as essential. Families will normally be notified as to the brother's
whereabouts and desire to live well. Through counseling of the family
and community life for the brother, it is hoped that full reconciliation
can be achieved. This would prevent the brother relapsing or re-offending
if and when he leaves community.
We encourage and support the Immaculate Heart Community
parents and families support group and to work closely with other
agencies such as the Mary of the Cross Centre, Salvation Army Bridge
programme and their family support programmes.
Ongoing Support
A brother will not leave the community without proper support and
counseling. Friendly houses will be made available for the brother
to continue the community's prayer life and have access to support.
The local Parish Priest would also be notified so as to be aware
of the brothers needs.
Funding
Immaculate Heart Community relies on Providence and this ethic is
promoted in the community to help understand our utter dependence
on God and appreciation of our own weaknesses. We expect to rely
on donations from the Church and wider community.
General funding from governments will not be pursued.
Most men entering the community are on some form of
welfare payment and they will be asked to contribute to their upkeep
with most of this. Some would be saved to provide for the brother
if he leaves the community. Centrelink will be notified so as to
ensure continuity of payments and to prevent breaches. Lack of income
will not impede a candidates application to the Immaculate Heart
Community.
